TEAM ROLES
Why Roles?
We believe that a team is most effective when everyone on the team has a job to do. Film Production is a very involved process, so delegating parts of the work to each person allows for a team to complete their movie as smoothly as possible.
There will necessarily be times when the lines dividing these roles get blurred. If someone needs to act in the movie, or can’t make it to a filming day then team roles are flexible and people can step up as needed.
When joining Film Co-Op, you will be given the option to rank your top 3 preferred roles, and we will do our best to put you in a role you’re happy with!

Cinematographer
The Cinematographer is responsible for capturing the vision of their team's film, which involves thoughtfully planning out the look and feel of certain scenes, as well as operating the camera whenever possible.

Editor
The Editor is tasked with crafting the final short film from the team's footage, while mastering techniques such as rough cutting, color grading, and adding sound effects and music.

Props and Costumes Manager
The Props and Costumes Manager will create and/or find the necessary visual aids to effectively communicate the world of their film. This includes costumes, props, set dressing, and more.

Production Assistant
The Production Assistant is in charge of making filming days run smoothly. They are the designated slate board clapper, help set up the camera and audio gear, and manage lighting

Creative Associate
The Creative Associate plays the most dynamic role on the team, responsible for ensuring productive progress by assisting in all areas. Since all team members will have scenes where they are featured in the film, the Creative Associate fills in as needed. They may take over as cinematographer for some scenes, assist with microphone handling, aid in costume creation, and much more.

Audio Manager
The Audio Manager will ensure that their film sounds as good as possible. They will be in charge of handling the microphones for audio capture, foley work, voice overs, and assisting with any other audio needs.

Storywriter
The Storywriter is in charge of taking all of the creative ideas their team generates and forming these ideas into the storyline for their film.

Marketing Manager
The Marketing Manager will handle their team's presence at Premiere night. They are in charge of designing their film's poster. Additionally, they will be decorating the Film Premiere night reception and assisting with the creation of Team Awards.

Hair and Makeup
Hair and Makeup team members make sure that all talents look the way they need to for each shot, whether making them look more natural on camera or more rough with effects such as bruises.
